Born and raised in the Korean province of Jeollanam-do, Sungchul grew up
cooking in his family’s kitchen for large gatherings and parties. Sungchul has
worked in acclaimed kitchens including Le Bernardin, Per Se, Morimoto, and
Neta in Greenwich Village.
In October 2019, Sungchul opened his first solo project Kochi, offering a nine-course tasting menu of Korean skewered dishes that received one Michelin star. Sungchul has opened his second restaurant Mari in Hell’s Kitchen offering tasting menu of street food inspired Korean hand rolls.
Eddie Hong, previously working at Gabriel Kreuther and Le Bernardin, joins the team as General Manager alongside with sommelier John Park, who oversees the beverage program.
